Where the RQ Wooden House Deco Fits Best
The wooden-house design reads as a cottage ornament, so we tend to recommend it for whimsical or kids’ tanks rather than serious nature-style scapes. Despite the name it is moulded resin, which is the practical choice here: real driftwood and bogwood leach tannins and tint our soft, slightly acidic local tap water, while this piece stays inert and colourfast in a warm 27-29C tank with no heater needed.
Use the open doorway and window cut-outs as genuine retreats for bettas, small barbs or a single bristlenose. Set it on firm substrate so it cannot topple if fish dig around the base, and keep one clear swimming lane in front rather than blocking the whole tank width. A quick rinse before adding clears any moulding dust, and a soft-brush wipe during weekly water changes stops biofilm building in the recessed detail.
