Tropica Echinodorus ‘Reni’ 1-2-Grow!

‘Reni’ is a well-known cultivar characterised by being amongst the smallest of the red Echinodorus, 15-40 cm tall and a roset from 15-25 wide. The new leaves of the plant are reddish-brown to deep beetroot in colour. It can be used in small aquariums and is unpretentious. The plant requires a lot of light and nourishment for optimal colour development.

Tropica Echinodorus ‘Reni’ (1-2-Grow!) for Coloured Accents

‘Reni’ is among the smallest of the red Echinodorus, reaching 15-40cm with compact 15-25cm rosettes, which makes it far more usable in modest tanks than the large classic swords. Its new leaves emerge reddish-brown to deep beetroot, giving you a warm colour accent without resorting to demanding stem plants. This tissue-culture cup delivers clean plantlets ready to establish a tidy, eye-catching feature.

To pull out its best colour, Reni wants plenty of light and nourishment; under lean conditions the red mutes toward green-brown. As a sword it feeds heavily through the roots, so a nutritious substrate plus root tabs make the difference. Singapore’s warm 27-29C water suits it well with no chiller, and our treated tap water is fine. Its compact size makes it a good fit for HDB and condo tanks where space is tight.
