‘Reni’ is a well-known cultivar characterized by being easy to grow and amongst the smallest of the red Echinodorus, 15-40 cm tall and a roset from 15-25 wide.
The new leaves of the plant are reddish-brown to deep beetroot in colour.
It can be used in small aquariums and is unpretentious.
The plant requires a lot of light and nourishment for optimal colour development.

‘Reni’ is among the smallest of the red Echinodorus, which makes it one of our easier recommendations for hobbyists who want sword-plant colour without a plant that quickly overruns a modest HDB or condo tank. Its new leaves emerge reddish-brown to deep beetroot, and it earns its reputation as an undemanding, beginner-friendly cultivar that tolerates a range of conditions, including our soft, slightly acidic local tap water.

To bring out the best colour, give it strong light and feed the roots well, since like all swords it draws most of its nutrition from the substrate. When your pot arrives, rinse off the rockwool, divide the plantlets, and plant the crown clear of the soil so it does not rot. Expect the first few emersed leaves to melt as it converts to submerged growth in our warm 27-29C water.
