Description

A new and very special Anubias nana variety is the color variant ‘Jade’. The variety name refers to the most important gemstone in China – the jade. The color of jade includes all shades of green and often shows a special grain in the form of small veins, stripes and spots. On closer inspection, these small spots can also be seen in the new Anubias ‘Jade’. The leaf color looks especially contrasting to dark green plants in the foreground. The culture is as with almost all Anubias problem-free and simple – the plant grows best on wood and stones. Especially recommended for small aquariums and aquascaping.

Anubias nana ‘Jade’ for contrast in nano scapes

The ‘Jade’ selection earns its name from a brighter, jade-green leaf, often carrying faint veining and small spots on close inspection. That lighter tone is the whole point: set against darker foreground plants or olive Bucephalandra it really pops, which is why we suggest it for small aquariums and detailed aquascapes where a single colour accent does a lot of work. It stays low and compact.

Treat it like any nana and keep the rhizome above the substrate, glued or tied to wood and stone. It is essentially trouble-free, asking only for low to medium light and tolerating our soft, slightly acidic Singapore tap water. Growth is very slow, so a small portion stays in scale for a long time, and our warm 27-29C tanks need no chiller. Keep light gentle to discourage algae on the slow leaves.
