Description
Vesicularia Dubyana ‘Christmas’ On Wood
A moss speciality from Brasil, 1-3 cm tall, called “Christmas tree moss”, because of its side branch structure which distinguishes it from ordinary Vesicularia dubyana and looks like fir tree branches.
It is more demanding than ordinary Java moss and grows more slowly.
It attaches readily to roots and stones, and as it spreads in the water, it needs pruning to keep its shape attractive.
See also Taxiphyllum barbieri.

Christmas moss on wood: an instant-aged centrepiece for SG aquascapes
Buying this moss already grown onto wood saves you the months of tie-down and grow-in that the loose form demands, which is the main reason it sells well to time-pressed HDB and condo hobbyists. Drop it straight into a scaped layout and the branching fronds read as a mature, established piece from day one. We still recommend a short acclimation period under your own light before any heavy trimming.
It is slower and slightly fussier than ordinary Java moss, so give it gentle, consistent flow and moderate light to keep that distinctive fir-branch shape tight. In our 27-29C tanks growth is steady rather than explosive, which actually helps the form hold longer between trims. Keep detritus from collecting in the fronds and the dark green colour stays rich.
