Description
NA Carbon has an outstanding absorption capability; its absorption rate is about 20 times higher than that of other conventional activated carbon products for aquarium use. Its cylindrical form promotes absorbing activities more effectively. Also works well to ease yellowing of the aquarium water. Produced by acid treatment, NA Carbon won’t make the water alkaline.
When to run ADA NA Carbon in your filter
We keep NA Carbon on hand for hobbyists battling that yellow tea-stained tint that fresh driftwood releases, a common sight when SG aquascapers cure new Malaysian or local wood. Slipped into your canister or hang-on media basket, it polishes the water back to clarity and helps strip dissolved organics and lingering odours. Because it is acid-treated rather than alkaline, it will not nudge your pH upward, which matters for the soft, slightly acidic conditions most planted and blackwater tanks here aim for.
Carbon is a finishing tool, not a permanent fixture. We advise running it for a week or two after a water change or wood addition, then removing it, since spent carbon stops adsorbing and can leach back. Rinse it before use, place it after your mechanical floss, and avoid running it alongside plant fertiliser dosing if you want nutrients to stay in the water column.
