Running ANS K1 Moving Media in Local Filters

K1 is a fluidised, free-floating biomedia, so it performs best when it is kept tumbling rather than sitting static. We see local hobbyists run it in a dedicated moving-bed chamber, a sump compartment, or a DIY reactor driven by an air pump or return flow. The constant motion sloughs off old biofilm and exposes fresh surface, which keeps the colony young and efficient at processing ammonia and nitrite in heavily stocked tanks and ponds.

Buy enough to fill only 60-70 percent of the chamber so the wheels have room to circulate; overpacking stalls the tumble. The 1L pack suits nano sumps and small canisters, while 4L handles a typical HDB community tank or a balcony pond.
