This 4ply clear filter mat is a versatile polishing and pre-filter layer you cut to size for canisters, HOBs, and sumps. The multi-ply structure traps fine particulate so your water runs visibly clearer, and because you trim it yourself, it suits the mixed bag of filters Singapore hobbyists run, from compact nano units to larger canister setups. We reach for mat material like this whenever a tank needs that final mechanical stage to catch debris the coarser media misses.

Place it as one of the last mechanical layers before water reaches your biological media, so it protects ceramic rings and bio balls from clogging with detritus. In our warm 27-29C tanks, fine mats can load up faster as fish are more active and feed heavily, so rinse it in old tank water during water changes rather than under the tap, which would kill the beneficial bacteria establishing on it.
