Description
“Comprehensive and easy to use, I often like to have a couple of bottles of Anti-Internal Bacteria treatment or Disease Solve to hand. Nice to know that I’m not the only one who rates these products!” Nathan Hill, the Associate Editor of Practical Fishkeeping Magazine
When to use :
Activated Carbon is the highest grade, pelleted activated carbon available ensuring the absorption of colour taint often caused by the tannins in bogwood, toxins and heavy metals found in some water sources and helps to reduce that “river” type smell that can build up in a mature aquarium. A suitably sized filter media bag is included for ease of use.
How to use :
Rinse well in tap water, place in filter media bag provided, and add to a filter compartment.
Replace after 6-8 weeks or as water clarity degrades.
Remove when treating the aquarium with any medication.
Can be used to remove excess medication at the end of a treatment or in the event of an overdose.
NT Labs Aquarium Activated Carbon 120g for Singapore tanks
NT Labs’ Activated Carbon is a high-grade pelleted carbon that adsorbs the colour taint, dissolved organics and certain heavy metals that cloud or yellow aquarium water. It’s particularly handy in local planted and blackwater-style tanks, where the tannins leaching from bogwood and driftwood can tint the water a tea colour that not everyone wants to keep.
We treat carbon as a periodic polishing tool rather than a permanent fixture. Run it in your filter for a couple of weeks to strip discolouration or to remove medication residues after a course of treatment, then replace it once it’s exhausted, since spent carbon stops adsorbing. Pelleted carbon like this is less dusty to rinse than cheaper granular types, which makes setup in a small HDB filter quicker and tidier.
