SHIRUBA activated carbon cartridges for PF hang-on filters

These replacement carbon cartridges keep your SHIRUBA PF hang-on-back filter pulling tannins, odours and dissolved organics out of the water column. They drop straight into the PF60 through PF1000 housings, so there is no fiddling with loose media or cut-to-fit pads. Carbon works by adsorption and eventually saturates, after which it stops doing anything useful, so treat these as a consumable rather than a permanent fixture in the chamber.

In Singapore’s warm conditions a heavier bioload exhausts carbon faster, so on a busy tank we suggest swapping cartridges roughly weekly as the manufacturer advises. Just as important: pull the carbon out whenever you dose medication, since it will strip the treatment straight back out and waste your money. Rinse new cartridges briefly under dechlorinated water first to clear loose carbon dust before fitting.
