This washable bonded wool is built to take repeated rinsing without falling apart, which is exactly what you want for the mechanical stage of a filter. Made without added glue, it is a safe, reusable alternative to flimsy filter floss that disintegrates after a couple of washes. The two sizes let you line a narrow hang-on tray with the 50x11cm strip or pad out a canister basket with the larger 50x40cm sheet, trimmed to fit.

In our warm 27-29C tanks, biofilm and detritus build quickly, so a durable polishing pad you can rinse in old tank water and reuse saves money over time and keeps your water clear between changes. Sit it as the first stage so it catches debris before water reaches your bio media, and rinse it in dechlorinated or tank water rather than straight tap, since our chloraminated supply can knock back the beneficial bacteria colonising it.
