If you keep Neocaridina or Caridina, the moment shrimplets start appearing is exactly when a bare filter intake becomes a hazard. This stainless guard slips over the inlet pipe and screens out tiny shrimp, so the babies that survive their first vulnerable weeks are not lost to the impeller. It also catches dead leaves and debris before they clog the strainer, which keeps flow steady on a small tank.

Available to suit 10mm, 13mm and 17mm intakes, you simply match it to your existing Iflo-style pipe, so check your inlet diameter before ordering. Stainless steel handles the constant damp of a Singapore shrimp room without rusting, though we still rinse and dry it during water changes since biofilm and algae build fast under tank lighting and can slowly throttle the slots if ignored.
