What sets this stainless steel inflow apart for our shrimp keepers is the 1mm slot spacing on the skimmer cage, which is fine enough to stop baby shrimp and small fry being drawn into the filter. That single detail makes it one of the few surface skimmers we are comfortable recommending for a dedicated Crystal Red or Taiwan Bee tank, where every shrimplet counts. Choose 12mm for nano builds and 16mm where your canister moves more water.
Surface skimming earns its place in Singapore tanks because warm water and a still surface encourage an oily biofilm that dulls the view and slows gas exchange.
