Running the NF CR-8800 Forced Suction Filter in SG Tanks

The CR-8800 is a workhorse internal filter we recommend for keepers who want mechanical, biological and chemical filtration in one submerged unit without plumbing an external canister. It suits the typical Singapore living-room community tank, drawing water through the intake and returning it through the outlet so debris is trapped while beneficial bacteria colonise the media inside. For renters and HDB flats where wall-mounted canisters aren’t practical, an internal filter like this keeps the setup tidy and self-contained.

Because our tap water is chloraminated, always dechlorinate top-ups, and rinse the sponge in old tank water rather than under the tap so you don’t kill the bacteria culture the filter relies on. Position the outlet to ripple the surface; in warm 27-29C rooms that agitation drives off CO2 build-up and keeps dissolved oxygen up, which fish appreciate during the muggy season.
