SunSun JY-02 / JY-03 Surface Skimmer for Singapore Tanks
A surface skimmer earns its place fast in our climate, because warm 27-29C water and high humidity encourage that oily protein film to form across the top of the tank. That film looks unsightly and, more importantly, slows oxygen exchange and gas-off, which stresses fish on hot afternoons. The JY-02 and JY-03 draw water from the very surface and pass it through filter cotton, lifting the film, debris and surface scum so the water sits clear and breathes properly again.
We like these for planted and aquascape tanks where you want a clean, glassy surface for photos and viewing, and the auto-adjusting intake handles the small water-level changes that come with evaporation in our warmth. Position the skimmer where your circulation gently pushes surface water toward it, rinse the cotton when flow drops, and pair it with your existing filter rather than treating it as your only filtration.
