The YBF-500 hangs on the rim and leads with surface skimming, drawing off the oily protein film that forms readily in our warm, humid climate so the top of the tank stays clear and gases off properly. A corrosion-resistant stainless-steel mesh and three layers of filter cotton handle the mechanical work, trapping impurities and keeping the water crystal clear. The drainage feature makes routine water changes and maintenance noticeably tidier than a basic hang-on.

For HDB and condo keepers, a hang-on unit keeps hardware off the floor and out of the cabinet, which is useful when space is tight, while still giving you proper mechanical and biological capacity. Position it where surface flow drifts toward the intake so it skims efficiently, rinse the cotton when you notice flow dropping off, and clean the mesh periodically. As always with our chloraminated tap, rinse biological media in old tank water to protect your bacteria.
