Matching the UP AQUA D737 or D738 pump to your top filter

Top (trickle) filters remain a local favourite on 2ft and 3ft tanks because they are easy to service from above and forgiving of heavy stocking. We supply both UP AQUA pumps to suit different trays: the D737 is the lighter-duty option, while the higher-output D738 is better when you are pushing water up through a taller three-layer top filter and want enough flow returning across all the media. Pick by lift height and tray count, not just tank length.

The built-in overheat protection is reassuring in our climate, where ambient rooms sit at 27-29C and pumps run warm. If it cuts out it restarts once cooled, but persistent tripping usually means the impeller chamber needs a clean. We suggest a quick rinse of the impeller every couple of months, since mineral and biofilm buildup from Singapore tap water gradually robs you of flow and makes the motor work harder than it should.
