This compact 3-in-1 UV unit tackles green water and free-floating algae and helps knock back waterborne bacteria, which is exactly the kind of bloom our warm, brightly lit tanks are prone to. It runs on USB 5V and is flexible about where it sits: drive it with an air pump, or plumb it into a sump, hang-on filter, or canister return. The mini, compact form fits the smaller tanks common in HDB homes.

UV works best as water passes slowly past the lamp, so do not push too much flow through it if you want results on a green-water bloom. It clears suspended algae but is not a cure for the root cause, which is usually excess light and nutrients, so pair it with sensible lighting hours and good maintenance. Clean the quartz or housing periodically as biofilm reduces UV penetration.
