Feeding Suggestions
When your water temperature is consistently above 70 degrees, feed two to four times daily. Warmer temperatures translate to more activity and the need for more food. Always remove all remaining food after the feeding period to avoid over-feeding and the water quality problems associated with this action.
***It is advised to feed your fishes as per the instructions. Over feeding may lead to algae blooms and/or poor water quality.
HIKARI Spirulina L 5kg for koi colour in Singapore
This 5kg bag of large spirulina pellets is a colour-enhancing supplemental diet for koi, and the bulk size tells you it is meant for pond keepers rather than a single tank. Spirulina is a natural pigment source that supports the reds and yellows in koi while leaving the white areas clean, which is exactly what local koi keepers chase when conditioning fish for show or simply for a vivid pond. As a floating pellet it lets you watch the whole pond come up and feed.
Because Singapore koi never go dormant in our year-round 27-29C water, they feed and colour up across the whole calendar, so a colour supplement like this can be worked into the routine continuously rather than seasonally. Use it alongside a balanced staple rather than as the sole diet, size feeds to a few minutes of eating, and reseal the bag tightly since our humidity will soften and spoil a large bag of pellets quickly once opened.
Our koi food guide on growth and colour explains how to combine staples and supplements, and our colour-enhancement food guide covers pigments. See more in our floating pellet range.
