Originated from the American tropics, Phyllanthus fluitans is a floating plant part of the Phyllanthaceae family.
It is similar to the Salvinia, differentiated only by the mono leave structure on each node. The water repellent, heart shaped leaves hide the stem which can sometimes give life to white flowers with six petals. The more intense the light, the browner the leaves will become. Sustainably cultivated in Denmark.

Keeping Phyllanthus Fluitans (Red Root Floater) in Singapore Tanks
This little red floater is a favourite among local scapers because it thrives in our warm 27-29C rooms without a heater. Under bright light its leaves blush from green to deep crimson, while the trailing roots dangle into the water column to soak up excess nutrients. We supply it in healthy emersed-tip condition, so expect a short settling period as it adapts to your tank’s humidity and surface flow before it starts multiplying.
Strong surface agitation and a tight-fitting lid full of condensation are its main enemies in HDB and condo tanks, since splashed leaves rot quickly. Keep flow gentle around the floating mat and leave a little air gap under the cover glass. Bright light brings out the red; under dim lighting it stays green and leggy. A light nutrient column and CO2 are not required, but a dosed tank will see it spread faster than you expect.
