Description

Micranthemum Tweediei ‘Monte Carlo’

Micranthemum tweediei ‘Monte Carlo’ originates from Argentina.
It has compact, round and fresh light green leaves on creeping stalks and creates a fast-growing carpet in the front of the aquarium.
The plant can grow in light shadow, but requires good light conditions, as well as CO2 additive, in order to develop optimally and become really compact.

Carpeting with Tropica Micranthemum ‘Monte Carlo’ in SG

Monte Carlo is one of the most popular foreground carpeting plants for good reason: its small, round, fresh green leaves creep across the substrate to form a dense lawn, and it is a touch more forgiving than dwarf baby tears. As a Tropica tissue-cultured plant it arrives clean and pest-free, ready to be split into small portions and planted in a grid so it knits together quickly across the front of the scape.

It carpets best with good lighting and CO2, which is the combination we recommend for that tight, compact growth rather than tall, reaching stems. Singapore aquascapers can sidestep the soft-water worry here, since Monte Carlo is not fussy about hardness; the bigger levers are light intensity and steady CO2. A dry-start approach also works well in our humid climate to establish the carpet before flooding.

See more in our foreground plants range, and grow it well with our Monte Carlo aquascape guide, the carpet plant comparison, and our CO2 guide.
