SPIRULINA FLAKES vegetable flakes with spirulina. SPIRULINA FLAKES is a food in the form of flakes with spirulina (6%). Intended for everyday feeding of herbivorous and omnivorous fish in freshwater and marine tanks, including popular Malawi cichlids of the mbuna group, rainbow fish, barbs, guppies, mollies and other live bearing fish. Nutrients from spirulina ensure excellent condition of fish and regulate their digestive processes.
It’s particularly important in case of herbivorous fish because their alimentary tract makes them more vulnerable to constipations and inflammatory disorders. Therefore, creating their menu needs extra care and attention. A high level of carotenoids from spirulina intensifies fish’s coloration and positively affects their whole bodies by affecting numerous physiological processes and protecting the cells against free radicals.

Tropical Spirulina Flakes for Singapore herbivores

These spirulina flakes are a staple we recommend for tanks heavy on plant-grazers: mbuna, mollies, guppies, barbs and other fish that need more vegetable matter than a standard flake provides. The flake format floats and softens quickly, which suits surface and mid-water feeders, and the algae content helps keep herbivorous digestion regular rather than relying on protein-rich foods their gut is not built for.

For Singapore keepers, storage is the thing to watch. Our humidity gets into opened tubs fast, so we suggest decanting flakes into a small airtight container and keeping the bulk pack sealed and dry. Feed only what your fish clear in a couple of minutes, since leftover flakes break down quickly in warm 27-29C water and can cloud a tank or feed nuisance algae if you overdo portions.
