FROK FK40R Submersible Red Lamp (1.5ft) Explained

The FK40R is the 1.5ft red version of FROK’s submersible LED, and it has a clear purpose in Singapore’s arowana and monster-fish scene: pure red light deepens the warm tones on red arowanas, flowerhorns, red parrots and goldfish. Submerged low behind the fish, it lights them from below and to the side, which conditions colour far more convincingly than a top fixture washing everything flat. It is a tool many serious keepers here add specifically for show conditioning.

The build follows the rest of the FROK line, with thick waterproof glass and heavy rubber seals made for tanks holding large, powerful fish that bump fittings. In our 27-29C tap-fed tanks the in-built heat sinks earn their keep, since warm ambient water leaves LEDs little margin to shed heat. We suggest mounting it securely and leaving the sealed cable gland clear of obstruction so it can breathe at the connection point.
