San Francisco Bay Brand freeze-dried mysis shrimp are a go-to treat for marine and reef fish that turn their noses up at dry food. The whole, bite-sized shrimp carry a savoury appeal that often tempts finicky new arrivals into eating, which is exactly what you want when settling a fish into a Singapore reef tank. They suit clownfish, wrasses, anthias and many community reef inhabitants.

Freeze-dried food is shelf-stable and convenient, but we recommend soaking a pinch in tank water before feeding so it sinks and rehydrates rather than floating dry. Offer only what is eaten in a couple of minutes to keep nitrates down, and resealing the tub tightly matters in our humidity to stop it absorbing moisture. Rotate it alongside frozen and prepared foods for a varied diet.
