Keeping Anubias Minima in Singapore Aquariums

Anubias minima carries longer, narrower leaves than the familiar nana, giving it an upright, slightly more elegant silhouette that suits the mid-ground and taller hardscape positions in a scape. It’s a genuinely hardy live epiphyte that helps your tank along by drawing up nitrates, and its leaves offer welcome shelter for fish and shrimp. We recommend it to hobbyists who want a real plant that behaves almost as forgivingly as a decoration.

It is mounted, not planted: tie or glue the rhizome to driftwood or stone and keep it exposed, because a buried rhizome rots. Minima thrives in our warm 27-29C water under low to moderate light with no CO2 needed, making it a natural fit for low-tech Singapore tanks. When it arrives, rinse the roots and acclimate it gradually; new emersed-grown leaves may melt before submerged growth takes over, which is normal.

Browse companion species in our live plants range. Our Anubias care guide and rhizome division propagation guide cover mounting and multiplying it in detail.
