Using Cordyline Australis Peko in your setup
The Cordyline ‘Peko’ is a striking foliage plant, prized for the colour and form its strappy leaves bring to a layout. We stock it because it photographs beautifully and adds instant structure, but we are upfront with local hobbyists: Cordyline is a terrestrial species. It performs best in the emersed, above-water sections of a paludarium or riparium rather than fully submerged for the long term, where it tends to decline once its emersed leaves exhaust themselves.
For Singapore growers, that emersed approach actually plays to our strengths. The high ambient humidity in most homes keeps the foliage turgid, and you can plant it where roots reach moisture but leaves breathe open air above the waterline. Treat it as a feature plant for a wabi-kusa style arrangement or the back ledge of a paludarium, and it will hold colour far longer than if you push it underwater.
