Cryptocoryne Spiralis for SG Tanks
Cryptocoryne spiralis is a grassy, narrow-leaved crypt that gives a softer, more flowing look than the broad-leaved wendtii varieties. Its slim leaves sway nicely in flow, making it a useful mid-to-background plant for a natural-style scape. Like its relatives it is hardy and undemanding, settling well in the soft, slightly acidic dechlorinated tap water typical of Singapore homes, and it copes with our warm ambient temperatures without fuss.
It feeds heavily through the roots, so a nutrient substrate or a root tab beneath the crown keeps it lush and full. Plant it and leave it; spiralis spreads by runners over time to form a graceful clump or band. As with every crypt, anticipate an initial melt after planting and simply trim away affected leaves while the roots establish a new flush of submerged growth.
The spiralis care guide details placement and lighting, and our root tabs guide explains feeding. See more options in our live plants category.
