Description
This Cryptocoryne from Sri Lanka used (mistakenly) to be called Cryptocoryne nevillii, but this is the name of a species that has never been used in aquariums. Like many other Cryptocorynes, not much happens the first month after planting. But then it starts to grow, and willingly produces plenty of runners which form a compact group. The plant becomes 7-20 cm tall, and each roset 7-15 cm wide.

Tropica Cryptocoryne x willisii Potted for Singapore Aquascapes
This Sri Lankan crypt, once mistakenly sold as Cryptocoryne nevillii, arrives as an established potted plant ready to divide and place. Reaching 7-20cm tall with rosettes around 7-15cm wide, it sits comfortably in the midground. We value it for how readily it produces runners once settled, knitting into a compact, naturalistic group that fills space without looking cluttered.
True to the genus, it often does little for the first month after planting, then accelerates and starts throwing out runners in earnest. That slow start is normal, so resist replanting or disturbing it early. Singapore’s warm 27-29C tap water, once dechlorinated, suits it well with no chiller required. A nutritious substrate and the occasional root tab help the colony establish faster and form a denser cluster over the following weeks.
