Supplement containing concentrated iodine. In marine aquariums iodine is crucial for the general cell functioning and the transfer of nutrients between them. Iodine is constantly consumed by tank inhabitants, therefore, without supplementation its level drops quickly. Iodine is used by corals for synthesizing pigments which allow them to adapt to variable lighting conditions and protect the fragile coral tissues from UV radiation. Iodum intensifies dark blue and purple coloration of hard corals. Appropriate iodine content in seawater tank supports shrimp molting. Regular dosage of Iodum allows to keep iodine content at the same level as in the natural sea water.Dosage: 1 drop per 100 l (27 US gal) of water daily. 1 drop of Iodum raises iodine level by 0.01 ppm in 100 l of water.The recommended level of iodine in aquarium water is 0.055 – 0.07 mg/l (ppm).Product for aquarium use only. Dosing AF Iodum on Singapore Reef Tanks

Iodine is consumed quickly in a closed reef and drops faster than many keepers expect, especially on heavily stocked or skimmed systems. This concentrated 10ml bottle is aimed at SPS keepers chasing deeper blues and purples, but it is just as relevant if you keep shrimp, since iodine supports the moulting process. We treat it as a routine top-up element rather than something you dose reactively, building it into a fixed weekly schedule.

The usual mistake we see locally is heavy-handed dosing without testing. Iodine has a relatively narrow comfortable range, so on a typical 200-300L mixed reef we suggest starting low and increasing slowly while watching coral response. In warm 27-29C tanks uptake is fast, which is good for growth but means consistency matters more than dose size. Spread the weekly amount across several days into a high-flow area of the sump for the most even distribution.
