Description

Purple-Up™ is a new pink and purple coralline algae accelerator. Since Purple-Up™ is not a fertilizer, it does not promote the growth of nuisance algae.

How does it work?
Purple-Up™ uses a unique dual method approach to coralline algae acceleration. It contains ionic calcium which immediately raises dissolved calcium levels in your aquarium water. At the same time Super Sea Calcium™ (a 10 micron aragonite powder derived from natural seawater) targets the live rock surface. Super Sea Calcium™ dissolves in situ; delivering calcium, strontium, magnesium, and carbonate right where it’s needed.

Purple-Up™ also replenishes iodine; an essential element for coralline algae tissues that quickly becomes depleted in closed systems. Purple-Up™ is an excellent addition to any aquarium with stony corals too! One bottle of Purple-Up™ replaces the typical multi product recipe for successful coralline algae growth favored by advanced aquarists.

Using CaribSea Purple Up 16oz in a Singapore Reef

Purple Up is a coralline algae accelerator, and Singapore reefers reach for it when they want that mature, purple-encrusted look to develop on fresh rock and tank walls. It works on two fronts, adding ionic calcium to the water column while delivering a fine aragonite powder that targets rock surfaces directly, which is where coralline actually establishes. On the dry LifeRock and fresh substrate many of us start with, it gives the biofilm a useful nudge toward that established reef appearance.

It is not a fertiliser, so it will not feed nuisance algae the way over-dosing nutrients can, but coralline still needs the broader chemistry to be in range. Stable calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium do the heavy lifting, so we treat Purple Up as a helper rather than a substitute for proper dosing and testing. Shake well, dose as directed, and keep good flow so the powder distributes across your rockwork.
