Galaxy Rasbora is peaceful and easy to care for, as long as they live in stable water parameters with good water quality. These jewel-toned little fish are truly a sight to be seen. Their midnight blue bodies are dotted with shimmering, pearl-coloured markings that resemble a starry galaxy, and their fins add a pop of colour with their bright red and orange stripes. They do best in tanks that have plant, rock, or driftwood that provides them with cover. And are known to do best in groups of 6 or more.

Keeping the Galaxy Rasbora (Celestial Pearl Danio) in Singapore

The Galaxy Rasbora, better known as the Celestial Pearl Danio, is one of the most striking nano fish we carry: midnight-blue bodies flecked with pearl spots and edged with red-orange fins. They are peaceful, undemanding for their size, and perfect for the small planted and shrimp-friendly tanks that suit HDB and condo living. Keep them in a group of eight or more so the males display naturally and the shoal feels secure.

They prefer cooler, stable water and gentle flow, which is worth noting in Singapore. Our ambient 27-29C sits at the warm end of their comfort range, so a heaterless setup is usually fine, but a clip fan helps during a long hot spell. Our soft, slightly acidic chloraminated tap water suits them once conditioned, and dense planting plus some leaf litter brings out bolder colour and natural behaviour. Feed small foods like crushed flake, micro-pellets and the occasional frozen treat.

Acclimate new arrivals slowly to bridge any temperature and parameter gap; our how to acclimate new fish guide covers the drip method. For long-term care read our Celestial Pearl Danio care guide, and see more nano species in our rasboras category.
