Shirakura Medium Shrimp Wood for Grazing
Shirakura Shrimp Wood is a piece of natural wood made specifically for shrimp tanks, not a fish. In the warm water of a Singapore shrimp setup it quickly develops the soft biofilm that Caridina and Neocaridina graze on around the clock, giving them a constant natural food source between feedings. We see keepers add a medium piece to a bare-bottom or planted colony to boost grazing surface and keep shrimp visibly active.
Soak the wood before use so it sinks and any initial tannins leach into a bucket rather than your display. A little tannin staining is harmless and even welcomed by some keepers, but a pre-soak keeps your water clearer. Over time it becomes a centrepiece that mosses and tiny grazers colonise, doubling as hardscape and a feeding station in one.
