CaribSea Arag-Alive Hawaiian Black for Dramatic SG Reefs

Hawaiian Black brings something different to a reef sand bed: a dark, volcanic-look base that makes coral colours and fish pop in a way pale sand never does. Under reef LEDs the contrast is dramatic, and it suits Singapore aquarists who want a moody, modern marine display in a compact nano or AIO format. Like the rest of the Arag-Alive line it is aragonite-based, so it still contributes to pH and alkalinity buffering despite the darker tone.

Because it arrives wet and seeded with live bacteria, it supports a faster biological start, though we always recommend testing ammonia and nitrite through the cycle rather than assuming the bed has done all the work. Add it gently to a filled tank to limit clouding, and tune powerhead flow above the bed so the finer grains stay put. Our ambient 27-29C reef temperatures suit the tropical life this substrate is built for.
