Description
Small grain sand with excellent mineral composition that gives off important minerals.
It stabilizes the water quality which will promote better fish health.
The porous shape of the sand is suitable for the growth of bacteria and filters the dirty.
It can promote and improve water environment to allow for fish breeding
Source of Substrate:
SUDO Manfanshi substrates are made from the famous Fujian Maifan Stone.
Maifan stones from PingHai, Fujian are known to be used throughout the ages, as water treating media.
It has also been extensively tested by various laboratories for various purposes.
***Not suitable for setups with bottom feeders such as cories and plecos, due to the rough texture of the coarse grains.

Using SUDO Manfanshi Maifan Coarse Sand in Singapore tanks
We stock this Fujian Maifan-derived coarse sand for hobbyists who want a buffering base layer that does more than look natural. Across our Singapore tanks the slightly larger grain keeps a loose, oxygenated bed that resists compaction, which matters in our warm 27-29C rooms where anaerobic pockets form faster. We often spread it as a thin top dressing over inert gravel, or as a standalone substrate for cichlid and hardy community tanks where a touch of mineral release suits the fish.
Because Maifan grains are porous, they host beneficial bacteria the same way ceramic media does, giving your biofilter extra surface area inside the tank itself. We rinse each kilo briefly before adding it, since even pre-graded sand carries fine dust that clouds water during the first day. Pair it with steady flow and it settles within hours. For nano and shrimp setups, keep the layer shallow so detritus stays easy to siphon during routine maintenance.
