How To Safely Add Fish To Tank

  1. Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
  2. Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
  3. Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.

Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.

Keeping Head and Taillight Tetras in a Singapore community tank

The Head and Taillight Tetra, Hemigrammus ocellifer, earns its name from the bright spots that glow at the gill and the base of the tail. It is a peaceful, hardy shoaler that does best in groups of at least six or more, where the spots flicker together as the school moves. They suit a planted community tank and show their colours best over a darker substrate with some shade, which our soft, slightly acidic tap water complements nicely.

As a tropical species, they are comfortable in Singapore’s ambient 27-29C, so many tanks keep them happily without a heater. Follow the acclimation steps already noted on this page: rest the bag, then float it to equalise temperature before netting the fish across rather than tipping in the transport water. Keep them with similarly gentle tankmates and feed small, varied foods; a tight, confident shoal is a sign they have settled in well.
