Keeping Kitty Tetra in a Singapore community tank
The Kitty Tetra is a small, peaceful nano shoaler that does best in a group of eight or more, where it relaxes and shows its natural colour rather than hiding. It suits planted community tanks alongside other gentle nano fish and shrimp, and the tight schooling looks fantastic against a green carpet. As a small-bodied tetra it appreciates a mature, stable tank, so we never recommend it as a first fish into freshly set-up water; let your tank cycle and settle before adding a shoal.
Singapore’s soft, slightly acidic tap water actually suits tetras like this well, which is one reason they’re easy to keep here. Our ambient 27-29C sits comfortably in their range, so most living-room tanks need no heater at all. When your order arrives, follow the float-and-acclimate steps to ease them across the temperature and pH gap gently, and add them after lights-out to reduce stress. A lid is wise, as startled nano tetras can dart and jump.
Browse our wider tropical fish range, and read our Kitty Tetra care guide and drip acclimation guide before they arrive.
