Using the Zoo Med Dr Turtle Slow Release Calcium Block in SG

This floating calcium block is a simple way to support shell and bone health for turtles kept in local tanks, slowly releasing calcium as it dissolves. We find it especially handy for keepers of red-eared sliders and similar species in Singapore, where a steady calcium source complements a varied diet and helps offset the soft, mineral-poor tap water many of us start from.

Because it dissolves gradually, it gives turtles something to nibble and conditions the water at the same time, though it is a supplement rather than a substitute for proper diet, UVB and basking. We tell customers to monitor how fast it disappears in a warm tank, as higher temperatures can speed dissolution, and to replace it when it is mostly gone. It works alongside, not instead of, good filtration and regular water changes.
