In Singapore’s warm rooms it still earns its place, since reptiles regulate themselves by moving between water and a dry, lit perch.

Because it floats and self-adjusts with the water level, you avoid the gap problems fixed ramps suffer when you do a water change. We suggest positioning the island under a basking lamp so your turtle gets the warmth and light it needs to dry out fully between swims, which helps keep shell and skin in good condition. Pick a size that lets every turtle climb fully clear of the water without crowding, as juveniles grow surprisingly fast.
