Description
Nomoypet Natural Coconut Substrate has many uses and is ideal for use in setups requiring high moisture retention. When moist, the coconut coir sticks to each and becomes a dense substrate. However, it dries readily near the surface and reverts back to it original state, providing an airy top layer while retaining a good amount of moisture at the mid and lower levels. This characteristic along with the fiber strains, help the substrate hold well when tunneled. making it ideal for animals that borrow.
Coconut Coir when used with other materials, can be a partial substitute for soil. Pet owners often do this to prevent the introduction of organisms that come along with soil.
It can be used for reptiles, tortoises, amphibians, and even arachnids.
It can also be used with silicon to create walls in tanks, mimicking river banks etc.

NOMOYPET NC-18 Coconut Substrate for Reptile Setups
Coconut coir is a workhorse substrate for terrariums and reptile enclosures, and this natural fibre version is prized for how well it holds moisture. Dampened, it packs into a dense, burrow-friendly layer that holds its shape when tunnelled, which suits animals that like to dig while keeping a drier, airy surface on top. For Singapore keepers, that moisture retention helps maintain humidity for tropical species without the substrate turning to sludge.
We use coco coir on its own for humidity-loving setups or blended with soil and leaf litter for a more naturalistic, bioactive enclosure. Rehydrate compressed bricks with dechlorinated water, fluff it out, and let excess water drain so it is damp rather than waterlogged. In our humid climate, keep an eye on ventilation so the top layer dries between mistings and you avoid persistent mould or fungus gnats.
