Description
When keeping freshwater fish and plants, the general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH) of aquarium water should match their natural habitat. The API® GH & KH TEST KIT helps you duplicate the natural habitat of your fish to prevent stress, keeping them healthy!

API GH & KH Test Kit for Singapore Water
This kit measures general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH), the two numbers that quietly shape whether your fish and plants settle in. Singapore tap water is typically on the soft side with modest buffering, which suits many tetras, rasboras, and aquascaping plants, but matters a lot if you’re keeping hard-water species like livebearers or rift-lake cichlids that need remineralising. Knowing your starting GH and KH lets you stock with confidence rather than guesswork.
KH is also your buffer against pH swings, and in CO2-injected or driftwood-heavy tanks common among local aquascapers, low KH can let pH drop sharply. Testing both means you can spot a thinning buffer before it becomes a problem. Each drop-count is straightforward, and the two reagent bottles and glass vials store neatly in a flat’s limited cabinet space without taking over a shelf.
