Microsorum Pteropus APC Sunrise in the Aquascape

APC Sunrise is a selected Java fern form with a softer, lighter leaf flush, grown emersed in a pot ready to be split for your scape. Like all Microsorum it is an epiphyte: you attach the rhizome to driftwood or rock rather than burying it. Bury the rhizome and it rots, so we always tie or glue it on top, letting the roots grip the hardscape over a few weeks. This habit makes it perfect for layering height onto wood without disturbing substrate.

It is one of the easiest plants we sell, undemanding on light and happy without CO2, which suits low-tech Singapore tanks beautifully. Newly imported emersed leaves often melt back before submerged growth takes over, so don’t panic if the original foliage browns; trim it and wait for fresh shoots. Snip plantlets from leaf tips to propagate.
