Growing Pellionia Repens in SG Paludariums and Terrariums

Pellionia Repens is a low, creeping foliage plant valued for its trailing habit and patterned leaves, and it is best understood as a terrarium and paludarium plant rather than a fully submerged aquatic. It thrives growing emersed along damp hardscape, draping over wood and rock at the water’s edge, where it knits a soft carpet of greenery. In a paludarium or riparium it creates that lush, jungle transition between water and land that gives a scape real depth.

Singapore’s naturally high humidity is a genuine advantage here, since Pellionia loves the moist, warm air our climate provides, and an enclosed terrarium holds that humidity beautifully. Keep its roots in consistently damp substrate or moss rather than fully drowned, give it moderate indirect light, and it will spread steadily. It works wonderfully alongside mosses and ferns in the emersed sections of a build, softening hard edges of wood and stone.
