Growing Caladium White Pearl in Singapore wet-dry setups
The White Pearl Caladium brings bright, pearly variegation that stands out against green aquatic foliage, but like its Humboldtii cousin it performs best emersed. We recommend it for paludariums, ripariums, and open wabi-kusa style displays where the leaves sit above the waterline. In Singapore’s humid climate the foliage holds up beautifully on a damp shelf without the constant humidity control hobbyists overseas struggle with.
Keep the root zone in moist, nutrient-rich substrate and give it gentle to moderate lighting; too much direct, intense light can scorch the pale leaf tissue. We caution against fully submerging it in a closed aquarium, since the leaves are not adapted to permanent underwater life and will gradually melt. Treated as a marginal accent instead, it rewards you with long-lasting colour and a lush tropical feel.
Find companions in our live plants collection, and read our emersed section guide alongside the minimalist wabi-kusa guide to showcase its variegation where it thrives.
