Echinodorus ‘Red Diamond’ Care in Singapore
‘Red Diamond’ is a colourful sword cultivar that brings deep reddish, pointed leaves to the midground and background of a planted tank. We rate it a touch more demanding than the plain green swords, mainly because the red colouration wants good light to develop fully. In our warm 27-29C Singapore tanks it grows at a moderate pace and makes a fine red focal point once it has settled and put out a few mature leaves.
To draw out that signature colour, pair strong lighting with a nutrient-rich substrate and consider adding CO2 for the most intense, compact growth. As a heavy root feeder it benefits greatly from root tabs pressed in around the base. Plant the crown at substrate level, keep the growth point clear, and leave room for the rosette to expand. Stable parameters matter here, since swings can dull the colour and trigger leaf yellowing or pinholing.
For colour and feeding, see our Amazon Sword care guide and plant deficiency guide, and explore our background live plants range.
