Hydrocotyle Tripartita Pad for an Instant Carpet

Grown ready on a 15x8cm pad, this Hydrocotyle tripartita lets you lay down a generous patch of foreground in seconds. The cheerful three-lobed leaves form a bright, bushy mat that creeps across substrate and hardscape alike, and the pad format means you simply place and pin it rather than planting countless tiny plugs. We find it a forgiving carpet choice for local hobbyists who want quick coverage without a high-tech rig.

Tripartita is adaptable: under strong light and CO2 it stays low, dense and compact, while in calmer setups it grows looser and a little taller. Either way it suits our warm ambient water and conditioned soft tap supply. Trim it back regularly to keep the carpet tight and to stop it climbing over neighbouring plants; the trimmings root easily if you want to extend coverage elsewhere in the scape.
