15 chili rasboras (Boraras brigittae), 6 Pangio kuhlii kuhli loaches, 1 pair sparkling gourami (Trichopsis pumila), 8 red cherry shrimp. Blackwater with Indian almond leaves and driftwood; pH drops to 6.2-6.6. Ambient 28-29°C suits all species — no heater needed in most HDB flats.

Blueprint 3: Centerpiece + Schoolers

1 Bolivian ram (Mikrogeophagus altispinosus) or 1 pair apistogramma cacatuoides, 10 rummy-nose tetras (Hemigrammus rhodostomus), 6 otocinclus. A dwarf cichlid in 95 L works only if aquascape has territory breaks — caves on one end, plant thicket at the other.

Why Not Angelfish or Discus

Both need 120 cm length and vertical room past 51 cm. Stick to dwarf cichlids in this footprint.

Blueprint 4: Species-Only Breeder

20 celestial pearl danios (Danio margaritatus) plus Neocaridina davidi cherry shrimp. Gives you a single-focus display where dominance hierarchies, spawning and colour development become the daily interest. Great entry into celestial pearl danio breeding.

Avoid These in 25 Gallons

Water Parameter Targets

pH 6.5-7.2, GH 4-8, KH 2-5, TDS 120-200. PUB tap hits most targets after dechlorination with Seachem Prime (SGD 22/250 mL). Weekly 25% water changes with a Python water changer keep nitrate under 20 ppm.

Quarantine Before Adding

Feeding Mix

Rotate Hikari Micro Pellets, Fluval Bug Bites 1 mm, frozen daphnia and live blackworms (SGD 3/portion at Y618). Two small meals daily, one fast day weekly. Overfeeding is the main cause of 95 L tank failures.
