Miniature Dwarf Anubias

It doesn’t get smaller than this!
This is probably the smallest Anubias in the world and is a real boon to any underwater landscape.
In terms of cultivation and care it is just as robust as the original form, but needs a little more light to produce lovely, compact greenery.
This dwarf form can be used in a 10 L Nano Cube or larger. These plants have a most natural appearance when tied to delicate roots or driftwood.
Red bogwood is perfectly suited to this purpose.
Alternatively, showcase your ‘bonsai’ Anubias on a canvas of decorative rocks.

Dennerle Anubias Barteri Var. Nana ‘Bonsai’ for Nano Scapes

This ‘Bonsai’ form is among the smallest Anubias available, and that tiny stature makes it a gift for nano and shrimp tanks where standard nana would overwhelm the layout. We see it used to beautiful effect on small driftwood branches and delicate roots, where its compact rosettes read like miniature trees. For the nano cubes and desktop tanks so popular in space-conscious Singapore homes, it’s an ideal scale-appropriate epiphyte.

It shares the legendary toughness of regular nana but appreciates a touch more light to stay dense and compact rather than stretching. That still falls well within easy low-tech territory in our warm 27-29C tanks, with no CO2 strictly required. As always, mount the rhizome onto wood or stone with thread or glue and keep it uncovered, since burying the rhizome causes rot. Trim away any older leaves that collect algae.

Explore companions in our epiphytes range, and our Anubias care guide and driftwood aquascaping guide will help you build a convincing miniature layout around it.
