Growing Bucephalandra Lamandau Round in Singapore Tanks

Bucephalandra Lamandau Round is a compact rhizome plant with rounded leaves and a subtle metallic sheen, native to Borneo streams and ideally suited to low-tech aquascapes. It is an epiphyte, meaning it should never be buried; the rhizome must sit exposed while only the roots grip the hardscape. We see it used most as detail planting on driftwood crevices and rockwork where its slow, deliberate growth keeps a scape looking tidy for months.

This plant is genuinely beginner-friendly in our conditions, tolerating soft, slightly acidic tap water and low to moderate light without CO2, though added carbon and gentle ferts deepen its colours. The common local pitfall is the so-called melt after planting, where leaves drop as the plant adjusts to submersion; the rhizome usually recovers and pushes new growth, so resist the urge to pull it. Steady flow keeps detritus off the leaves and discourages spot algae.

Browse the rest of our live plants for companions. Attach it using our Bucephalandra care guide and the moss and plant attachment glue guide, and if leaves brown see our browning leaves fix.
