Description
Narrow-Leaved Cryptocoryne Nevelli
Cryptocoryne lucens is easy to care for and easy to cultivate.
The plants produce narrow, pure green leaves. Growing to a height of 10 – 20 cm it is a good candidate as a foreground plant.
It grows very slowly, which means it requires minimal maintenance.
As with many rosette-like plants, only the older, outer leaves should be removed.
However, it is possible to prune the plant hard to encourage more dense growth.
Plants should be cut approx. 2 – 3 cm above the substrate.

Hints
Cryptocoryne lucens for low-fuss SG foreground planting
Lucens is the narrow-leaved, compact crypt we point beginners toward when they want a green foreground that does not demand pressurised CO2. Its slow, steady habit means very little trimming, and it holds well in the warm 27-29C water typical of unheated tanks here. Planted in a small group it knits into a low, grassy cushion that reads beautifully against darker hardscape in nano and shrimp setups.
Root feeding matters most with this species, so we bed it into aquasoil or a fine nutrient substrate and add a root tab beneath the cluster. After planting, expect a quiet settling-in period while it converts to submerged leaves and adapts to your local water; resist the urge to disturb it. Once anchored it sends out runners and gradually fills the front of the tank on its own.
