Growing Echinodorus Dscungelstar Simply Red in Singapore tanks

This red sword cultivar makes a striking midground-to-background centrepiece, and it grows well in our warm 27-29C tanks once acclimated. When your order arrives, rinse the rockwool from the roots gently and trim any damaged emersed leaves, since tissue-cultured and pot-grown swords often melt back their first few leaves before pushing new submerged growth. Plant the crown above the substrate so it does not rot, and give it space to spread its rosette.

Like most Echinodorus, it is a heavy root feeder, so it draws much of its nutrition from the substrate rather than the water column. To bring out the red tones, pair good lighting with regular feeding; in lower light the new leaves lean greener. Our soft, slightly acidic local tap water suits it fine, and moderate CO2 will speed growth though it is not strictly required for this hardy plant.
